2012 Chevy Camaro
Since the late 1960′s, the muscle car has been loved and enjoyed as a simple and powerful car that is not intended for just any average driver. One of the earliest and most successful companies in the muscle car making game is Chevrolet. Chevy has been producing potent V8 engines since the 1950′s and this gave them a huge advantage in the muscle car world. In 1966, Chevy debuted the new Chevy Camaro in response to Ford’s new Mustang. Both cars became wildly successful and the rivalry between the two cars created a cult following on both sides. In drag racing, trans-am competitive racing and in the simple road car versions, the Camaro and the Mustang have a rivalry that continues to thrive into the 21st century.
After the first release of the Camaro in 1966, Chevy opted for new designs for each generation of new Camaros. After the fourth generation Camaro, Chevy decided to again change the car’s look. This new design, however, would bring back the vibe of the original. In 2010, for the fifth generation of Camaros, Chevy designed a retro-inspired Camaro following the original lines and design of the original. It had a bold, aggressive attitude about it and became an instant success.
Now, Chevy has done it again. They have created a new beast, the 2012 Chevy Camaro. Read the rest of this entry »
Chevy ZR1 – The Fastest Ever Production Car
The most powerful production car made is the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Moreover, it is American-made and is able to beat Ferrari’s and Lamborghinis.
This $105,000, 2009 Corvette has a 638-horsepower motor which gives off an aura to those around it. The zero-to-60 time achieved in 3.4 seconds beats the $1 million Ferrari Enzo. The Vette’s rear brakes are similar to those on a $1.6 million Bugatti Veyron. Many onlookers do not often know the performance because it resembles its’ humbler regular coupe version. However, once you drive it, you will know the difference right away. It is a super exotic car that masks itself with Chevy’s bodywork.
Besides it being very recognizable, not much is shared with its basic cousin unless it is the interior, engine block and springs. Most noticeably, is the supercharger on the hood.
On the outside, the ZR1 utilizes the 2006 Z06 body casing with even more light weight aluminum and high-tech body construction. The Z06 has a standard steel and fiberglass body. To compensate for the added weight from the supercharger, larger wheels and upgraded brakes, the roof is made of carbon-fiber material. Although, the weight distribution is better than that of the Lamborghini Murclielago and the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. Read the rest of this entry »
2013 Chevrolet Malibu – What’s New?
The first Chevrolet Malibu, named after the city in America, hit the market in 1964 and was then a sub series of Chevrolet Chevelle. Since then General Motors have produced a number of Malibu models, and in 2010 it was the automakers best seller in the US. Chevrolet plan to sell the Malibu in over 100 countries and hope to replicate the success it’s had in the US. But in the increasingly crowded mid-size sedan segment how does Chevrolet plan to stand out with their next generation Chevy Malibu?
Design
Malibu Exterior Design, Dan Gifford, has said the 2013 Malibu is ‘more athletic and more aggressive’. The sportier 2013 model takes design cues from the brands sportier models- the Camaro and Corvette- and will be nearly three inches wider and just slightly shorter.
“We wanted to bring a sport sensibility to the family sedan segment,” said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of design for GM. Read the rest of this entry »
